VIDEO: Nirvana members play surprise ‘reunion’ show in Brooklyn
In a Nirvana reunion of sorts, surviving members of the band played a surprise concert at a Brooklyn bar Thursday night after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony at Barclays Center.
Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana were joined by Joan Jett, Kim Gordon, Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) and others at the Saint Vitus venue in Greenpoint.
From Fred Pessaro of Noisey, who there:
In all, an insane evening that I never thought I would ever see in my lifetime—the members of Nirvana reforming to play their old favorites. It was all a big, whiskey-soaked dream. S– this cool doesn’t happen in real life, does it?
A commenter on a video of the “Smell’s Like Teen Spirit” performance at the show was bittersweet about the surprise:
This is the way Nirvana’s music is supposed to be: in a niche little bar with a bunch of people loving it. I could not have cared less about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and all of their bulls—- but I really do feel like I missed out on this glorious moment in history.
Earlier, Jett, Gordon and Clark joined the band for a set at the induction concert for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which Nirvana is now a member of.
Here’s the setlist for the surprise show:
