Teenage bystander shot in the head in Brooklyn, suspect sought
Cops are on the hunt for a gunman who shot two people in the middle of the day along a busy Brooklyn street on Monday.
On Tuesday, the NYPD released video of a man suspected of opening fire in Flatbush, inadvertently striking a 13-year-old boy in the head.
The suspect was walking down the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Beverly Road about noon when he suddenly pulled out a gun and let out a spray of bullets intended for an unidentified 24-year-old man, police said.
The 24-year-old was shot in the leg and taken to Kings County Hospital, as was the teenage bystander. Authorities said both are in stable condition.
The surveillance video shows what police describe as a black male wearing a black-and-white patterned hoodie with the word “ROC” and the front and back and “99″ on both arms.
The suspect is shown pacing on the city block, with his right hand in his sweater pocket. He then runs in the opposite direction, hood down with a firearm visible in his right hand before escaping the scene with his hood up once again.
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting or the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to submit tips online.
