2014 Boston Marathon results: American Tatyana McFadden wins women’s wheelchair
“The Star-Spangled Banner” blared over the loudspeakers on Boylston Street just before 11 a.m. Monday as American Tatyana McFadden won her second straight Boston Marathon women’s wheelchair title.
McFadden finished with an unofficial time of 1:35:04.
The 25-year-old Russian-born Paralympic champion is a resident of Maryland and won the race on her birthday.
“It definitely is an awesome birthday present,” McFadden told WBZ-TV. “I kept pushing, pushing and pushing. There was great support for the whole 26 miles [from the fans]. At Heartbreak Hill we were just exhausted and tired, but the support was just wonderful. The cherry on top was hearing the National Anthem play.”
