VIDEO: Cops charge man for Molotov cocktail attack at Brooklyn bodega
Police arrested a man for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail inside a Brooklyn bodega after getting in an argument with the clerk early Wednesday morning.
Charles Diaz, 35, surrendered to police on Thursday and was charged with attempted murder, assault, arson and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said Diaz had an argument with a store clerk at a 24-hour mini-mart on Fort Hamilton Parkway in Borough Park around 12:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
About an hour later, police said surveillance footage shows Diaz returning to the store wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. Police said he also had a Molotov cocktail, which he tossed into the bodega with the 34-year-old clerk was still inside.
The resulting blast was so powerful, Diaz was thrown back onto the sidewalk before he fled, according to video from police.
The clerk’s hair and jacket caught on fire from the fire bomb, but police said he only suffered minor injuries.
