Sen. Leach may protest Corbett’s medical marijuana stance with sit-in
As a bill to legalize medical marijuana awaits action, state Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Montco/Delco) is threatening to hold a sit-in protest in Gov. Tom Corbett’s reception room if Corbett doesn’t agree by Friday to meet with Leach and six families with children who could use the medicine.
“Gov. Corbett has done nothing on this issue while Pennsylvania families suffer,” Leach said in a statement. “The administration’s inaction is callous and inexcusable. We will come to him if he continues to ignore their immeasurable suffering.”
Corbett has previously stated that he would veto a medical marijuana bill.
SB 1182, the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Act, was sponsored by Leach and Republican state Sen. Mike Folmer. The bill has 13 co-sponsors.
At a Jan. 28 hearing, the state Senate gave bipartisan support to the measure.
