Two Boston chefs win James Beard awards
Just when you thought “Top Chef” coming to Boston was the biggest food news to hit the Hub, a pair of local chefs have won one of the food world’s most prestigious awards.
Chefs Jamie Bissonnette and Barbara Lynch were among the winners at the James Beard Foundation Awards on Monday night.
Bissonnette, of Coppa in the South End, was named best chef in the Northeast. This award recognizes chefs who set new or consistent standards of excellence in their respective regions, according to the James Beard Foundation. The chefs must have spent the three most recent years in the region where they are currently working.
The foundation presents the award to “a working restaurateur who sets high national standards in restaurant operations and entrepreneurship.”
Last year, Lynch was one of the winners of the foundation’s Who’s Who of Food & Beverage in America award.
