Ride to Conquer Cancer will benefit Penn Medicine

Registration is open for this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day, 150-mile bike ride whose fundraising efforts will benefit research, education and patient care programs at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.

But don’t be put off by the distance of the ride — it’s not just for expert cyclists. There are pit stops along the way with food and drinks and also, an overnight camp midway with tents, hot meals, showers, live music, massages and more.

Linda A. Jacobs, director of the cancer survivorship program at the center, has already been fundraising and getting her own team together. She said that even current cancer patients as well as survivors and providers will be participating.

“They all feel very committed to raising money to support what they feel are important programs here,” she said.

This fundraiser could actually turn into the Abramson Cancer Center’s biggest one.

“This is two full days, said Jacobs, “where people work for months to get volunteers together and really boost morale around a common goal.”

The bike ride is set for Oct. 11 and 12 and is slated to start in Philadelphia and into the suburbs during the trek. Everyone is invited to join the bike ride. To register, donate or request information, visit www.ridetovictory.org or call 844-777-7433.
