Cops: Bronx mother charged with abandoning child on street
A Bronx woman accused of abandoning her child on the street was arrested Monday night, police said.
Diana Paniagua, 29, was charged with reckless endangerment and abandonment of a child for leaving her toddler alone in a blue stroller at a South Bronx intersection, police said.
A truck driver making deliveries saw a woman leave the boy, approximately 2 years old, at East 141st Street and Rider Avenue and called the cops.
The boy was taken to Lincoln Hospital, authorities said. He was put in the custody of the Administration for Children’s Services.
Police were able to track down Paniagua after releasing a photo of her son. She was taken into the 40th precinct for questioning once the boy’s father brought her home after being told by neighbors that his son’s photo was on the news, police said.
It was not immediately clear why Paniagua allegedly left the child alone, officials said.
