New Yorkers wanting to find cheap tickets to watch the Rangers try and recapture the Stanley Cup, might find the bargain that they are looking for — all the way out on the West Coast.

Tickets to New York Rangers games for the Stanley Cup series at Madison Square Garden are going for exorbitant prices starting at $995 (as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday) for cheap seats on game three, the first home game, this coming Monday and climbing all the way to $26,000 for tickets if the series goes to game six.

By comparison, tickets to watch the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center on Saturday start at a measly $338.

Theoretically, it would be cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket to LA, book a hotel room and buy ticket to that game instead of watching the first match-up in New York City.

“One of the reasons behind the prices is that there’s a lot of pent up demand from Rangers fans since they haven’t been to the final in 20 years and the demand isn’t as high for Kings fans because their team has been up there the last couple of times,” he said.

Still, he said that this year’s match up is on track to be the most expensive Stanley Cup in the history of the National Hockey League with an average ticket prices in New York starting at $1,926.

“In terms of the wow factor, the biggest impact will come from game six. The tickets will be more expensive since it’s at Madison Square Garden. If it reaches game seven, tickets will probably be in the $2000-2500 range,” he said.
