PHOTOS: Papua New Guinea tribal leader Mundiya Kepanga visits NYC, goes to top of Empire State Building
Mundiya Kepanga, an author and tribal leader from Papua New Guinea, took in the view from atop the Empire State Building earlier this week during his first visit to New York City.
A Huli Wigman from the Oceanian country’s highlands, Kepanga is in the city for some promotional events. Thursday night, he is attending a screening of “Dancing with the Papuans.” The movie chronicles the journey of three French cabaret dancers who join Kepanga’s village to compete in the country’s largest tribal gathering.
In addition to a visit to the Empire State Building, Kepanga took part in other classic tourist activities.
He rode the subway.
He saw Times Square.
And he met the Naked Cowboy.
