The NYPD began a three-week traffic safety crackdown on Monday, officials announced.

The initiative, which will take place 24 hours a day, runs through Sunday, July 6.

Police enforcement will focus on hazardous driving like speeding, running through red lights, making improper turns, disobeying traffic signs and failure to yield to pedestrians, according to the NYPD.

Both making calls and texting on cell phones will also be targeted as part of the traffic safety crackdown.

The operation will center on problematic intersections across the city.

“The NYPD strongly encourages safe driving and urges the public to use caution, to slow down and to be patient while driving on city streets,” the department said in a statement.

As part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Vision Zero plan to completely eliminate traffic fatalities, the NYPD has increased speeding and other violations enforcement.

The department has already conducted several traffic safety enforcement operations recently. Police officers issued more than 4,800 speeding tickets during a two-day initiative in May. Another initiative last month resulted in more than 5,200 tickets
