NYPD: Teen carrying loaded revolver caught at Brooklyn subway stop
Police said the swipe of a MetroCard led them to stop a Brooklyn teen later found to have not only an outstanding warrant but a loaded revolver.
Transit bureau officers on patrol arrested Michael Guzman, 19, at around 7:48 p.m. Tuesday at the Gates J train in station in Bedford–Stuyvesant.
Authorities said Guzman walked through the turnstile after swiping a student MetroCard, full-fare cards only available to eligible public school students through the city’s Department of Education.
The uniformed officers determined the card was not Guzman’s and found there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest during a name check, promptly arresting the suspect.
During the search, the officers found a loaded .22 caliber revolver in Guzman’s front pocket.
NYPD said Guzman now faces charges for both the criminal possession of a weapon and theft of service for the MetroCard.
