Cops: Danvers man put hot sauce in mouth of boy, 3, taped it shut
A Danvers man has been charged with assault on a child after police allegedly found the boy alone in a motel room and after the boy told authorities the man put hot sauce in his mouth and taped it shut.
Christopher Delcid, 21, who is living with the boy’s mother and two other children at a Danvers motel, was charged with assault and battery on a child and child abandonment, according to The Salem News. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $250,000 cash bail.
Officers found the boy alone in the motel after a well-being check on Tuesday. The boy told police his parents and two half-siblings were out with friends and he was left home because he was “bad.” Asked by officers about the marks on his body, the boy allegedly told them that Delcid hit him with a shoe and a belt and then put hot sauce in his mouth and put tape over it.
Delcid’s lawyer said the boy has made false accusations of abuse before against a day care worker and a teacher and that the boy’s injuries were the result of him falling off of playground equipment and regular slams of his head into the walls and floors because of his ADHD.
All three children are now in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families while authorities investigate.
