Delaware state trooper shot, civilian injured in gun fight
A 26-year-old Delaware State Trooper is in stable condition but a 29-year-old Magnolia man is dead today after an exchange of gun during a traffic stop this morning.
According to multiple media reports the trooper, who is a four-year veteran, attempted to pull the man’s vehicle over around 7 a.m. The trooper planned to approach the victim regarding a domestic dispute reported earlier this morning but before the trooper could question the Magnolia man he sped off and ignited a brief pursuit.
The Magnolia man then pulled over at West Birdie and Bayhill Lanes, got out of his car and started shooting at the trooper.
The trooper fired back and fatally struck the Magnolia man. The trooper was hit twice and is currently in stable condition at Christina Hospital and he is expected to make a full recovery.
The shooter was pronounced dead around 8:40 a.m.
