Rainy weather threatens July 4th plans in New York City
Rainy weather could threaten July 4th plans in New York City.
There is a chance for thunderstorms, rain and clouds throughout Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. On Independence Day, there may be a morning thunderstorm and there is a 60 percent chance of rain. A quarter and half of an inch of rainfall may result from the storm.
The rain may let up in time for the Macy’s fireworks display at 9 p.m. A Macy’s spokesman said the fireworks can take place in the rain and have done so in the past.
“In the event there is severe weather such as lighting, we work closely with our city agency partners to determine what steps to take in the event these conditions exist, including delaying the launch of the display until that weather has passed,” spokesman Orlando Veras said in a statement.
