More than 40,000 pyrotechnic shells and effects will light up New York City’s skyline during the annual July 4th fireworks display.

For the first time since 2008, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will be held on the East River. Fireworks will be launched from the Brooklyn Bridge and on barges in the river.

In honor of the 200th anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner, the display will be in sync with the national anthem and a flag of fireworks will light up the sky.

While the fireworks can be seen in the sky above the East River from anywhere with an unobstructed view, there are public viewing sections.

Here’s where you can get a front-row view of the action in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The show starts at 9 p.m., but officials recommend setting up around 5.
