Germany, Argentina World Cup final watch party at City Hall Plaza
Continuing the success of the first two World Cup watch parties, the city is hosting another viewing party on Sunday for the championship match between Germany and Argentina.
Anticipating large crowds, the mayor’s office said City Hall Plaza will open for the event starting at noon. The match starts at 3 p.m. A large screen will project the game and speakers provide sound so fans won’t miss out on that always colorful commentary and goal calls.
The city hosted earlier viewing parties on the plaza when Team USA was still in the tournament. The event drew thousands of spectators who left disappointed earlier this month when the home team lost a close game to Belgium.
Joining Mayor Marty Walsh at the event will be the New England Revolution street team, the Battalion, which will have items to give away.
Also on Sunday, just before the start of the match, Walsh will present awards to the three winning teams of the 2014 Boston Cup youth soccer tournament that took place at the end of last month.
