Man’s chemically burned body found in Coney Island bathtub: Police
Police responding to an emergency call at a Brooklyn apartment made the gruesome discovery of a man’s chemically burned body in a bathtub on Saturday.
Officers responded to the ninth-floor apartment at West 12th Street in Coney Island at around 8:46 a.m. after receiving a call from a neighbor.
Once at the scene, the cops tried to walk into the unit but came across a 54-year-old man who refused to let them in, according to police.
After a brief struggle, the man was eventually subdued and restrained, giving the police access to the apartment.
The officers walked through home before they came across the naked body an unresponsive 62-year-old man in the bathtub. Emergency workers arrived and told police the man, thought to be the subdued man’s brother, was dead and had suffered chemical burns to the chest and left leg.
The medical examiner’s office will determine the exact cause of death, police said.
No charges have been filed and both men remain unidentified, but the surviving brother was taken to Staten Island University Hospital for psychological evaluation.
Last week, police found the skeletal remains of a woman buried underneath trash at a Borough Park apartment and took her daughter in for psychiatric evaluation.
