Queens woman sentenced for illegal butt injections
A Queens woman who pleaded guilty to unlawfully offering butt injections and treating wounds with Krazy Glue was sentenced to two to three years in prison.
Liliana Coello, 41, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and unauthorized practice of a profession after authorities arrested her in late 2012 after a patient sought professional medical treatment for a botched job.
She was arrested again in May after investigators found she had done a similar procedure in 2011.
Silicone injections to the derriere are illegal in New York State.
The victim, only identified as a 40-year-old woman, went to the unlicensed, amateur medical professional in November at Coello’s home in Flushing where she said the procedure would cost $2,500.
Coello told the woman she had done the procedure multiple times, and scheduled an appointment soon after. During the second meeting, Coello allegedly stuck a large needle with a clear, gel-like substance discovered to be consistent with silicone and/or paraffin into each buttock.
Days later, the patient returned to Coello complaining of pain and swelling, Coello injected her with what she said was penicillin and applied Krazy Glue to any leaks.
Eventually, the unnamed woman went to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with a massive infection and readmitted her twice thereafter.
In an unrelated case, a 22-year-old woman died in March after an amateur butt injection in Manhattan caused silicone to enter her veins.
