Man dies trapped in elevator shaft at Bronx housing project, police say
A man in his twenties died after being trapped in an elevator shaft of a Bronx building early Monday, police said.
Around 3:55 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call of a man trapped at a public housing development in Longwood, police said.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was discovered in the John Adams Houses unconscious and stuck between an elevator shaft wall and elevator car between the 18th and 19th floors at 680 Tinton Avenue, police said.
Emergency workers pulled the man from the shaft but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s still unclear how the man got stuck, police said. The medical examiner will determine how he died.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
