Bus riders across the five boroughs can expect a few service changes as a part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s improvement plans.

The list of service enhancements planned for bus routes includes extensions for certain lines to connect with larger hubs, terminal relocations that creates new stops and faster, limited commutes.

Billed at a total of $4.9 million in improvements, the plan also calls for new routes including a new M12 line to bus customers along Manhattan’s 11th and 12th Avenues between the West Village and Columbus Circle.

Queens residents counting on the Q113 Local will see it transformed into the Q114 Limited, which promises fewer stops and faster service along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard but for nights when it makes all local stops.

Brooklynites who might use the B13, B83 or Q8 will have their routes extended to a new terminal at the Gateway Center in Brooklyn’s Spring Creek section.

The Bx23 line will also move its terminal to the Hutchinson Metro Center in the Bronx from its current location at Westchester Square, adding four new stops in both directions.

Improvements to Staten Island service are also planned but will take a few days longer. As of Sept. 2, riders counting on the S93 to shuttle between Bay Ridge and College of Staten Island can expect new midday and evening hours for the limited-stop route.

The MTA is also adding an express route with the X21 cross borough service at peak morning and evening hours between the Hylan Boulevard bus loop on Richmond Avenue and its terminal at Midtown Manhattan’s East 41st Street and First Avenue.

“New York City changes all the time, and we must keep up by making accommodations and adding service when the need arises,” Carmen Bianco, president of MTA’s New York City Transit authority, said in a statement. “We are committed to improving reliability and service for our customers in all five boroughs.”
