MIT frat suspended after woman hurt in window fall
A Massachusetts Institute of Technology fraternity has been suspended by the university and the national organization after a woman fell from a third-story window during a party Sunday night.
The woman, who was a student but was not affiliated with MIT, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and was expected to recovery from her injuries.
The national office of Lambda Chi Alpha said that the MIT chapter has been suspended, meaning it cannot host and participate in activities pending the outcome of the investigation.
“The Lambda Chi Alpha professional staff is partnering with the university and local law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted,” Lambda Chi Alpha said in a statement.
The incident comes nearly a year after an 18-year-old MIT student plummeted four stories after falling through a skylight at the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He survived his injuries, but the fraternity was cited by Boston Police.
