Box cutters cause FBI probe on plane
PORTLAND, Oregon – The FBI is investigating how box-cutter blades got onto a Delta Air Lines flight from Japan, but reported no incident on yesterday’s flight.
The FBI, Customs and Border Protection and the Transportation Security Administration were called in after Delta alerted authorities to the blades on the flight to Portland from Tokyo’s Narita International Airport, which landed early yesterday.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the crew of Flight No. 90 opted to contact authorities and request they meet the aircraft upon arrival as a result of some box-cutter blades found onboard,” Delta said in a statement.
“All passengers were deplaned without incident and we are cooperating with the authorities in their assessment,” Delta said.
