In just seven minutes, the video posted below made us cry, smile, broke our hearts and then filled us with hope. It was a roller coaster of emotions we were not prepared for tonight.

The video montage explores the progress of the gay rights movement, while also not forgetting the victims.

The video shows historic events like the death of Harvey Milk to the overturning of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and gay marriage being passed in New York.

It also shows clips from famous people in the media. Ellen DeGeneres talks about being a lesbian. Charlize Theron gives her stance on equal rights, Dan Savage reminds people that it gets better. Lady Gaga does, well, exactly what Lady Gaga does.

The video also offers quick shots of how homosexuality is accepted in pop culture for example ‘Project Runway’s’ Mondo appears as do ‘Cam and Mitch’ from the popular ABC show, “Modern Family.”

The video also focuses on victims of the movement, many of which took their own life for being bullied or teased for being gay.

The video ends with the bold and touching phrase, “Be on the right side of history.”

Hey, don’t say we didn’t warn you about the tissues.
