VIDEO: Hero saves man who falls from SEPTA platform
A South Philadelphia man is being hailed as a hero after he helped save a man who was injured when he fell onto the train tracks at a SEPTA station in North Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon.Christopher Knafelc, 32, jumped from his seat on the platform at SEPTA’s Cecil B. Moore Avenue station when he saw the 63-year-old man fall onto the train tracks.
The incident happened about 12:40 p.m. on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line.
Video footage shows the man, who has not been identified, walk straight off the platform and onto the tracks.
Knafelc hopped onto the tracks, braced the man’s neck and shouted to someone to have SEPTA shut down southbound train service to the station. Firefighters responded to the scene about 15 minutes later to lift the fall victim off the tracks, according to reports.
