When law enforcement officials caught Dzhokar Tsarnaev on Friday after a day-long manhunt through Watertown, crowds flocked the streets of Boston celebrating the police department’s achievement.

On social media, people praised the work of the authorities and urged one another to buy a cop a beer. Some even suggested Boston pull out their Duck Boats for a parade – which is usually reserved for when a professional sports team wins a championship.

Some Reddit users found a good way to thank the Boston Police Department: by feeding them.

Reddit users sent the BPD located at 40 New Sudbury St. eight pizzas, who in turn logged on to the site to express their gratitude.

“Your kind gesture of sending us pizza is greatly appreciated! none of us really use reddit so hopefully this is posted in the right place. Thank you again!!” they wrote in a thread titled “Thank you for the pizzas REDDIT, from BPD”

The thread currently has more than 1,200 comments in which users thank the police officers.

“No! THANK YOU!!! In my 40 years growing up in the great City and State never was I ever more proud to be a Bostonian and an American thanks to your heroics and professional manners this past week. It was a tough week for all of you. Rest up and stay safe!” wrote on commentor.

“BPD was a class act this week, and every week for that matter. Thank you for your service and enjoy the pizza!” wrote another.

Reddit users weren’t the only ones expressing their support and encouragement via pizza.

Today, the Chicago Tribune picked up lunch for Boston Globe reporters by sending over a number of pizzas.

“We can only imagine what an exhausting and heartbreaking week it’s been for you and your city. But do know your newsroom colleagues here in Chicago and across the country stand in awe of your tenacious coverage. You make us all proud to be journalists. We can’t buy you lost sleep, so at least let us pick up lunch,” wrote the note signed ‘Your friends at the Chicago Tribune.’
