Rich moms avoid Disney lines by hiring handicapped guides

Disney is known as “The Happiest Place on Earth.” According to a new book, it might be a bit happier for the rich.

In a new book titled “Primates of Park Avenue,” social anthropologist Dr. Wednesday Martin claims that “Upper crust” moms use a “black market” connection to hire handicapped tour guides to walk them through Disney World so they can take advantage of the line skipping auxiliary entrances for the disabled.

The “black market Disney Guides” allegedly charge about $130 an hour for their services. The New York Post reports that the paying that for an eight-hour day is still cheaper than the $310 an hour price tag for a Disney World fast pass and VIP guide.

“Who wants a speed pass when you can use your black-market handicapped guide to circumvent the lines all together?” Dr. Martin writes.

“My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ – the other kids had to wait 2 ½ hours,” one mom is quoted saying. “You can’t go to Disney without a tour concierge. This is how the 1 percent does Disney.”

Disney allows each guest who needs a wheelchair or motorized scooter to bring up to six guests to a more convenience entrance, according to the Post.

According to the Post, a phone number for the guide service was passed around “Manhattan’s private-school set” over spring break.

Dream Tours, which is named in the Post story as one of the services used by New Yorkers, denied involvement.

Ryan Clement, who runs the company with his girlfriend who is handicapped, told the Post his girlfriend, Jacie Christiano does not exploit her disability for profit.
