VIDEOS: Bystanders record San Francisco plane crash
As an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 plane burst into flames upon landing in San Francisco yesterday, a number of bystanders took out their smart phones and started recording the destruction.
In the crash, two teenaged Chinese students were killed and more than 180 people were injured, officials said.
The cause of the crash is not yet known but an Asiana official said mechanical failure did not appear to be a factor.
Eric Weiss, a spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board, said the plane’s black boxes – the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder – had been recovered and sent to Washington for analysis.
Deborah Hersman, NTSB Chairman, said there was no indication of criminal act and that it’s still to early to determine what went wrong.
“Everything is still on the table,” she told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Below are some videos taken by witnesses of the crash.
