A gruesome case out of New Hampshire has come to a close with the sentencing of a woman who pleaded guilty to using a lighter to mutilate her son’s penis and nipples.

Christine Gelineau, 53, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and witness tampering in Merrimack County Superior Court in New Hampshire and was sentenced to 9 to 30 years in state prison, according to Merrimack County court officials.

Prosecutors presented a twisted case alleging the 19-year-old man was the victim of horrific abuse by his mother, a man they met during a road trip and other relatives — then forced to lie about his injuries being self-inflicted. Court documents state Gelineau, from Concord, Mass., admitted to investigators that she burned her son’s penis with a lighter in April while wearing gloves because she believed her son to be “dirty,” according to the Daily Mail. She also claimed she did it because her son, who is mentally challenged, threatened to have sex with her. The young man suffered permanent nerve damage to his penis as a result.

Daniel “Tyler” Cantrell, a man who met Gelineau and her son on a road trip, told investigators she threatened her son with burns if he didn’t eat human feces. Even after the victim agreed to eat feces, Gelineau still burned him, Cantrell told police.

Cantrell is also facing multiple charges in the case, stemming from alleged abuses including kicking and strangling the victim, burning his nipples with a lighter and forcing a lit cigarette against his skin. The victim’s cousin, 29-year-old Amy Nason, is also facing charges for allegedly pressuring the victim to ingest worms, urine and dish soap.

The victim addressed his mother in court, saying, “Dear ex-Mother, what you did to me is unforgivable. You beat me, starved me, almost chopped my penis off, threw my clothes away, wouldn’t let me bathe. You almost killed me by having me take three (antidepressants) and two muscle-relaxers.

“Now that I know you’re a complete criminal and only wanted me dead so you could go back to your old life, you won’t be able to attend my graduation or see me go on to college, so I wish you goodbye. I hope you realize you have lost everything you had,” he added.
