Friends and supporters are rallying around Claire Davis, a 17-year-old high school senior at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colo., who is in critical condition after 18-year-old gunman Karl Pierson stormed her school. Davis was the lone victim of the shooting after Pierson, who police say was trying to get revenge on his debate coach, shot her in the head. He later committed suicide when an armed deputy cornered him in the library. Pierson was armed with a pump-action shotgun and a bandolier of ammunition, a machete and three Molotov cocktails, police said.

Davis’ family asked for prayers for their daughter. They said in a statement: “Our beautiful daughter Claire Davis has severe head trauma as a result of a gunshot. She needs your continued prayers.”

The family’s request has been answered: Twitter has been flooded with the hashtags #PrayForClaire and #Ride4Claire. Davis is an accomplished young equestrian and other horseback riders showed their support on social media for the teenager. Another hashtag that has been trending is #Get1DtoClaire, referring to the boy band One Dimension.

Twitter user Brayton Rogers is one of many Twitter users who painted his car to honor Davis: He wrote “Pray 4 Claire” and “Arapahoe Strong” on his car and encouraged others to do the same.

Other Twitter users wrote about wearing black to school on Monday to show their support. Davis’ classmate, Chris Davis (no relation), told ABC News that he started collecting money for the Davis family and has already amassed $4,000. He plans to make online donations possible on Monday.
