Hilarious Southwest Airlines flight attendant turns safety announcement into stand-up routine

A Southwest Airlines flight attendant has become an Internet sensation after she turned a normally mindless preflight safety check into a hilarious one-woman stand-up routine.

Passengers on the Salt Lake City-bound flight roared with laughter as she wisecracked her way through the standard advice, while never missing a beat on the actual safety information.

The blonde attendant, who was filmed by a colleague, described her three co-workers as “my ex-husband, my new boyfriend and my divorce attorney,” before advising passengers to “position your seat belt tight and low across your hips, just like my grandmother wears her support bra.”

Frequent flyers, who routinely tune out the legally required safety presentation, looked on disbelievingly at first as the hilarious attendant went on to say, “As you know it’s a no-smoking, no-whining, no-complaining flight. It’s a ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and ‘you are such a good looking flight attendant’ flight.”

She described a portable flotation device for use in the case of an emergency landing as a “teeny, weeny, yellow Southwest bikini” to be deployed in the “unlikely event the pilot lands us near a hot tub.”

And she even ripped on her employers, joking that to activate the flow of oxygen from the drop-down emergency masks, passengers should “simply insert 75 cents for the first minute!”

By the end of the presentation the as-yet unidentified attendant had presented all the required safety information and received an ovation from passengers, many still laughing.

And on YouTube the presentation received massive support as viewers applauded her hilarious version of the normally tedious announcements.

One YouTube fan wrote: “No one ever pays attention to the safety precautions, let alone claps at the end. It was actually worth paying attention to. This was awesome!”

Another added: “I should start flying with Southwest.”
