VIDEO: Davenport University student fails at backflip during graduation ceremony

During the recent graduation ceremony for seniors at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, one student decided to add some memorable flair to the ceremony.

On Sunday, at the Van Andel Arena, graduating senior Robert Jeffery Blank tried to do a backflip onstage after receiving his diploma in front of hundreds of people at DU’s 2014 Commencement Ceremony.

The crowd audibly gasped as Blank’s attempt at gymnastics went wrong and he landed face-first on the stage. The woman announcing the names paused, then said, “Oh, OK. I don’t know, I don’t know. We’re just going to give it a minute…” as soon as Blank hit the floor.

Blank quickly got up and walked off the stage and appeared to be fine, but his celebratory backflip attempt will live forever online.

Enjoy this GIF of Robert’s epic graduation moment. Watch the people in the background all turn their heads at the same time.
