It’s time to extend the olive branch
A page has turned in the U.S. relationship with Iran. President-elect Hassan Roulani, in his first press conference since being elected, emphasized his interest in fashioning a new paradigm for relations with the West.
The American people need to make it clear to our leaders that we don’t want to let this opportunity slip by.
Now is the time for congressional consideration of a resolution that calls for negotiation as the way to resolve our differences with Iran.
Passage of such a resolution and lifting some of the most onerous sanctions that deprive Iranians of needed medical supplies would be appropriate responses by our country to the strong statement for peace which the Iranian people made with their vote.
