Give up your seats, kids
I am tired, physically and emotionally, of standing on a packed subway gazing down at the 20-somethings (or younger) occupying all the seats.
I’m not superannuated, but I am nearly 60, and haven’t passed for 20 in a long time. Well, I was raised differently.
I always offer an older person or pregnant woman — or anyone who looks like they need it — my seat, because it’s the right thing to do.
I’m not patting myself on the back here, because everyone used to do this! Sadly, it seems that a once common courtesy is quickly dying out.
And many thanks to the people who still do — but you must have noticed how many people DON’T!
