Letter: Health care burden is a weighty issue

I agree with letter writer Ann Sandhorst that employees who are overweight should not be penalized. There are overweight people who are very healthy and have longevity. However, I disagree regarding penalizing people based on the number of health problems they have.
It’s hard enough for someone who is sick to recover or for someone with health problems to cope with them. Do we want employers to tell people, “We’re sorry you have health problems but we’re going to have to penalize you. The healthy, able people don’t want to share your burden so you’re on your own now.”
