Re: ‘Chimp rights case reaches court’ (Metro, Dec. 5)
So instead of just pursuing the already-on-the-books (and incredibly progressive) New York animal protection laws that have worked in thousands of prior cases and would almost certainly be a slam dunk in this case, you’ve decided to argue that chimps are individuals entitled to individual rights on par with people. I’m guessing that if this chimp could speak, he’d hire some better lawyers — possibly ones whose goal is to actually win his case.
