Letter: How’d you think babies were made?
Re: ‘You’re not metal, madam’ (Metro, Jan. 28)
Letter writer Pasquale Tato claims that women are not incubators and that fetuses have “no rights to live and grow inside another person’s body and feed off that person’s blood.” How shocking and disturbing. Does he think the fetus invaded the mother’s body like an unwanted virus or vampire? Unless the woman was raped, she was a willing partner in creating that fetus.
If she selfishly chose to ignore the consequences, that is her fault, not the baby’s, and indeed once she created the baby, the baby does have a right to “feed off” off her.
She has the moral obligation to care for what she created. Woe to the world if Mr. Tato’s selfish view becomes mainstream.
