Letters: Why does the transponder have an off switch?
Day after day, we hear investigators tell us they don’t know where or how 238 passengers and crew of flight MH370 vanished. I would like a simpler answer: Why is it possible to turn off the transponder, by accident, or with intent, in the first place? Such a device has an on/off switch in the cockpit? Why?

Malaysia Airlines flight 370, where are you? Inquiring minds need to know. Fathers, mothers, friends and the world need to know the how, why and the where. Planes and people just do not disappear without a trace. Someone has to know. There is such an outcry for answers and none seems to be forthcoming. With all the technology we have today, we yet cannot find flight 370. That is so sad, indeed.
