Letter: Follow the money, all right
Re: ‘Climate cha-ching’ (Metro, April 30)
While I agree that Mother Nature is an unpredictable force, I find it astonishing that far too many low-information citizens see the green movement as a money grab, when we’re practically paying the equivalent of a gallon of milk for a gallon of gas. The fossil-fuel industry and speculative trading is fleecing the average consumer. Although we cannot “control” nature, why is being better stewards of the planet by lowering our carbon footprints — as well the introduction of renewables, which will allow greater access and lower costs to consumers — perceived as part of a nefarious liberal agenda? The outrage is due to ignorance of scientific facts and isn’t very “conservative” at all.
