Letters: IRS has been a tool before
Re: ‘IRS said it was wrong’ (Metro, May 21)
The most important point has yet to be made, and it involves letter writer Ron Shelton’s original question: How would you feel if the roles were reversed? That should sound familiar, because it’s the exact same question the American left asked of the American right when the Bush administration sicced the IRS on groups (including a church) that dared to question the Iraq War.

Letter writer Ron Shelton said 104 conservative groups were targeted versus seven progressive groups. As presented, his statistics mean nothing, and he forgot the most important thing: How many groups were created by conservatives and progressives during this time period? If conservatives created 300 groups and progressives only 20 groups, the treatment was fair. Everybody knows that there was an inflation of groups in the conservative camp to attack Obama during this period.
