Letter: Women get a raw deal, why make it worse?
Re: ‘Pursuit of pleasure not protected’ (Metro, July 3-6)
The reason women are upset about Hobby Lobby Supreme Court decision is an undercurrent in the letter from Justin Dobbs. Women carry the burden of unprotected sex, not men. If a child is the result, a man can just walk away, but the pregnant woman must decide to carry a baby to term or abort the fetus. This is the harsh reality of the gender difference. Abortion is a heartbreaking act, which in my opinion, should not be used as a form of birth control. I do not understand why birth control is under attack — is it not better to prevent an unwanted child rather than to abort it?
I wonder if men carried the child, if the men on the court would have voted the way they did. I wonder how many corporations attend a house of worship. Have we not carried “a corporation is a person” too far?
