A man was found dead in the 63rd Street subway station last night after firefighters responded to a reported fire.

An FDNY spokesman told Metro that the fire was in a communication room on the northbound platform.

Firefighters brought in one hose to extinguish the fire, finding a man “that appeared to be living in that room,” who was likely homeless, the FDNY spokesman said. The Daily News reports that the man had a hot plate and toaster in the room.

Officials are not yet sure what caused the fire and are waiting for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The FDNY declined to release any additional information about the man.
