The committee shakedown

Now that we’re three games into the season, running back committees are starting to show their true colors.

All the offseason talk about Felix Jones assuming a feature back role has been proven incorrect. Justin Forsett is starting to gain control in Seattle. And Ahmad Bradshaw has the Giants’ gig all to himself. Here is what to look for out of three more committees:

Ending Wells

We touted Beanie Wells as a nice “buy low” last week while he was still shelved with a knee injury. Now it’s too late. Wells got more carries than Tim Hightower in his first game back and that disparity will only grow larger as the year moves along. With the Cardinals struggling so badly to throw, Wells should be looking at 17-20 carries per game weekly.

Still tread left?

In Week 3, LaDainian Tomlinson started and played 42 snaps compared to 17 for Shonn Greene. The veteran is also outproducing Greene on a per-touch basis.?Still, owners should consider selling high, because at age 31, Tomlinson is bound to break down. He has too much tread on those tires. Remember, Greene got stronger as the season went last year.

Climbing Hillis

The Browns’ coaches simply don’t like Jerome Harrison. Why? Don’t waste time trying to figure it out. Just know that Peyton Hillis is looking at least 70 percent of the carries in this backfield going forward. Harrison is just bench fodder in fantasy leagues.

Pickups of the week

Lance Moore, WR, Saints
Reggie Bush was essentially a slot receiver for the Saints. Now that he’s out with a broken leg, Moore is picking up snaps and targets. He’s a WR3 in PPR formats.

LeGarrette Blount, RB,?Bucs
Coach Raheem Morris has already named Blount his short-yardage/goal-line back. And with Caddy Williams struggling so badly, Blount’s arrow is up.

Louis Murphy, WR, Raiders
It’s not a fluke that Murphy is a top-20 fantasy WR so far. He is the best receiver on the Raiders by light years and makes huge plays with his speed.
