Very frustrating day for Tiger
This is one streak Tiger Woods never wanted.
The former No. 1 golfer in the world came into yesterday just one stroke off the lead. But Woods left tied for 20th at 4-under 284, after shooting a 75 in the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic. Woods hasn’t won a golf tournament since the Australian Masters in November 2009.
“It was a very frustrating day,” Woods said. “There were quite a few positives this week, but a couple of glaring examples of what I need to work on.”
Instead, the trophy went to Alvaro Quiros, who shot a 68 and finished at 11-under 277, one stroke ahead of Anders Hansen and James Kingston. The 27-year-old Quiros hit a dramatic hole-in-one — his fourth ace on the European Tour — on the 11th hole.
“I played a three-quarter wedge shot and it was the perfect shot, but that happens just once a year,” Quiros said.
