A man in the middle of a manhunt hopes that Tim Tebow can escape his quarterback controversy with the Jets.

Christopher Dorner, the former Los Angeles police officer suspected of going on a deadly shooting rampage early on Thursday morning, posted a manifesto online that was replete with political references and threats. Oddly enough, it also included a mention of Tebow, himself a somewhat controversial figure.

The Jets acquired Tebow last March and the unconventional quarterback was largely underused, appearing largely as a gimmick and on special teams. He was overlooked late last season in favor of Greg McElroy when starter Mark Sanchez was benched.

Dorner, who said he was killing to clear his name, wrote in his manifesto about the Jets backup quarterback, even making predictions about his future on the field:

“Tebow, I really wanted to see you take charge of an offense again and the game. You are not a good QB by todays standards, but you are a great football player who knows how to lead a team and WIN. You will be ‘Tebowing’ when you reach your next team. I have faith in you. Get out of that circus they call the Jets and away from the reality TV star, Rex Ryan, and Mark Rapist Sanchez.”

Prior to being traded to the Jets, Tebow became a national sensation for leading the Broncos to the AFC West title last year and spearheading a dramatic opening round win in the playoffs. He has been the subject of trade rumors this past offseason and does not seem to be a part of the Jets’ plans moving forward although he might be untradeable.

The reference to Sanchez as a “rapist” dates back to the quarterback’s time at USC when he was accused of sexual assault of a female enrolled in the school. The charges were eventually dropped.
