Report: Larry Bird’s son, Connor, tried to run over girlfriend with car

Boston had not seen or heard from Connor Bird in 20 years.

On Feb. 4, 1993, the old Boston Garden was sold out and there was not a game to be played that night. Instead there was an unprecedented event to honor Larry Bird, Connor’s legendary father, who retired from the NBA several months earlier. Larry Legend held his son, decked in Celtics pajamas, close to his chest as his No. 33 was raised to the Garden rafters.

Two decades later, the name “Connor Bird” has resurfaced, for reasons much, much different.

The 21-year-old son of the legendary basketball player was arrested Sunday at Indiana University for allegedly trying to run over his ex-girlfriend with his car, according to the Indianapolis Star. Bird could face multiple charges including battery with injury, intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana.

Bird allegedly threw a cell phone at his girlfriend at his Bloomington apartment prior to trying to hit her with his car. The two attempted to smooth things over while talking in his car but things escalated again and the female got out of Bird’s car. That’s when Bird tried to hit her with his vehicle, according to police.

Bird has since been bonded out of Monroe County Jail, according to the Star.
