Celtics: Terry has yet to take off in Boston

Celtics brass never flat out said that Jason Terry would be Ray Allen’s replacement. But “Terry for Allen” was always implied.

Terry’s Celtics playoff debut was disappointing to say the least for Boston fans as the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year shot 0-for-4 from 3-point land and had a goose-egg, points-wise, in 20 minutes against the Knicks in Game 1 of the first round series on Saturday.

While Terry and Allen have posted, relatively, the same numbers this year with the C’s and Heat, respectively, Allen has been the more consistent scorer. Since Jan. 1, Terry has registered 24 games in which he posted less than 10 points while Allen posted 17 games in the single digits. Allen also has five 20-plus point games since Jan. 1 compared to Terry’s two.

It could very well be a rhythm issue for Terry as he hasn’t been getting up the amount of 3-pointers that he has in the past this season. He jacked up 331 shots from beyond the arc in the 2012-13 regular season, his lowest total since the 2004-05 season.
