Just after Tim Tebow was released by the New England Patriots over Labor Day weekend, the one-time most popular figure in sports said he had not given up on his dream of being an NFL quarterback.

File this one under the lowered expectations category if Tebow were to accept.

“We have offered him $1 million for two games,” Mikhail Zaltsman, owner of the Moscow Black Storm of the American Football League of Russia, told Russia Beyond the Headlines. “I talked with him personally and he wanted to go.”

It’s unknown if the Black Storm would have to shift around their elaborate offensive schemes to soothe Tebow, though they’d have to get him up to speed in a hurry, considering the league’s semifinal playoff game is Sept. 28.

Tebow’s agents remain fixed on the idea that the former Heisman Trophy winner can play American football in America.

“They’re thinking of using him as a motivational speaker,” Zaltsman said of Tebow’s agents. “They don’t want him to play football.”

A typical crowd for an American Football League of Russia game is around 2,000 and the league has no website, according to Russia Beyond the Headlines.
