Jesus Shuttlesworth will become the oldest rookie in NBA history on Jan. 21 when he makes his pro debut against the Celtics in South Beach. Shuttlesworth last played competitive basketball at Big State in 2002.

Filmmaker Spike Lee, who directed 1998′s “He Got Game,” posted a picture on his Instagram account of a “J. Shuttlesworth” Miami Heat jersey, explaining, “For A Few Select Games My Main Man Ray Allen Will Wear JESUS SHUTTLES WORTH On THe Back OF His Jersey. The Legend Of HE GOT GAME Continues To Grow. Da Greatest Joint About BALL Ever Made.YA-DIG? SHO-NUFF.”

The NBA will be allowing select players in select games to utilize nicknames on the back of their jerseys this season. Members of the Heat and Brooklyn Nets will wear custom jerseys on March 12 and April 8. It is said that LeBron James will use the moniker, “King” and that Paul Pierce with utilize the nickname, “The Truth.”

Playing the Field touched on this topic a couple months back when the NBA was contemplating using nicknames on jerseys.
