Boston College (8-22, 4-13) fought bravely with Florida State (18-11, 9-8) for the entire game, but a series of mistakes in the waning moments cost the Eagles the chance for a win on Tuesday night.

Down 69-68 with 1:01 to play, Patrick Heckmann committed a costly turnover off a pass. Florida State was then able to wind the clock down to 34 seconds thanks to a Devon Bookert rebound of his own shot.

BC was then forced to foul, but Bookert only made one of two free throws.

Down only two, BC called timeout and devised a play. Olivier Hanlan bobbled the inbounds pass and the Eagles committed another huge turnover. The Eagles fouled again, and again the Seminoles left the door open by only sinking one of two foul shots.

Down by three, BC decided to take the easy two points, laid in by Hanlan, and then fouled. Aaron Thomas made both foul shots this time, and the Eagles were down 73-70 with 13 seconds left.

BC got two 3-point shots off, but both Joe Rahon and Olivier Hanlan failed to sink them. BC fouled again, and Boris Bojanovsky put the game on ice, hitting a free throw to go up 74-70 with just three seconds left.

Despite his struggles late in the game, Hanlan lead all Eagles scorers with 20 points. For the Seminoles, Aaron Thomas had 26 points and Okaro White had 24.

Florida State desperately needed this win to stay alive in the NCAA tournament discussion. Their final game of the regular season is at home with Syracuse on Sunday.

Meanwhile, BC looks to end a disappointing season on a high note when they travel to face NC State on Sunday.
